These degree programs are conducted in Finnish. However, we are happy to share the development and expertise related to the education for training the professionals of tomorrow. There is also the possibility to participate in the courses in English or with the help of an interpreter.

Nursing

Bachelor of Health Care

  • 210 ECTS, 3.5 years, Bachelor’s degree programme
  • Students learn to implement care, quality and patient safety, perform various nursing procedures and engage in multi-professional teamwork in a simulated learning environment and practise situation, while accumulating social and health-care study units
  • The programme is offered by Karelia University of Applied Sciences

Practical Nurse

Vocational Qualification in Social and Health Care

  • 180 ECTS, Vocational qualification
  • A practical nurse works as a member of a multi-professional team in the field of care and nursing, education, rehabilitation or customer service
  • A nurse is an interactive, responsive and service-oriented professional
  • Common basic studies are accomplished during the first two years of study
  • The last study year involves expertise studies in a person’s chosen field
  • The programme includes at least 30 credits of on-the-job training
  • Through the programme, students gain a professional qualification
  • The programme is offered by Riveria– education and training consortium

Public Health Nursing

Bachelor of Health care

  • 240 ECTS, 4 years, Bachelor’s degree programme
  • Students learn to become experts in the field of nursing and health promotion while also learning to support individuals and communities in their own health and well-being
  • Students learn to understand preventive care for avoiding health risks and illnesses, how to take care of the ill and how to develop a healthy environment
  • The programme is offered by Karelia University of Applied Sciences

Elderly Care

Vocational Specialist Qualification

  • Continuous studies for professionals of social and health-care services
  • Appropriate work experience is demonstrated in genuine work situations in suitable display environments
  • Through specialisation, professionals acquire the competence to participate in responsible management and in coordinating tasks in the field of senior services
  • In addition to the general studies of the programme, the professional chooses an optional specialisation as part of the qualification, for example:
    • The care of an ill elderly person
    • The care of a memory symptomatic elderly person
    • The treatment of a dying person

Active Ageing

Master of Health Care

  • 90 ECTS, 2.5 years, Master’s degree programme for social and health-care professionals
  • Graduates gain multiple types of competence in ageing-related issues and will learn to handle multi-professional development tasks supporting the rehabilitation and wellbeing of older people
  • Graduates will be ready to develop, evaluate and renew services and social solutions that further the health, functional ability and participation of the elderly
  • The programme is offered by Karelia University of Applied Sciences

Development and Management of Health Care and Social Services

Master of Social Services

  • 90 ECTS, 2.5 years, Master’s degree programme
  • Students will strengthen their management skills by focusing on gaining competence in HR strategies, strategy competence and operation and quality development
  • Students will also strengthen their knowledge of their own expertise and learn to understand various phenomena related to organisational change processes and their management
  • The programme is offered by Karelia University of Applied Sciences.

Health Sciences

  •  The UEF’s Faculty of Health Sciences is unique and of the highest standard in Finland
  • The faculty educates and trains experts and professionals for several central aspects of health care and well-being
  • There are 12 different degree programmes offered.
