PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Stem (science, technology, engineering and maths) is enriched with arts in Finnish education. Result is STEaM education. The phenomenon-based learning challenges subject boundaries and encourages learners to achieve versatile understanding about our technological complexed world. Part of Finnish Pisa-success is arts (arts, music, drama, crafts), that increases and strengthens creativeness, self awareness, social skills etc. and supports learning also in so called academic subjects. Visit reveals how STEaM-content occurs in Finnish basic education. Visit includes professional lectures, visits to schools to observe and participate in STEaM-teaching and hands-on workshops, where participants can learn Finnish experimental methods to learn STEaM contents (science, coding, robotics, drama, music etc.).

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

A cross-cutting review to Finnish education system which opens the individuals path from early education to profession. Finnish education system is highly valued around the world. In Finland society gives equal opportunities to each and every individual to achieve their personal goals in education. Education system does not create dead ends in education path regarding individuals choices or social background. Finnish education system is also geographically equal, teachers profession is valued and teachers has high level education. Visit helps to understand why Finland has so high end education system which is based on equality. Results of Finnish education system can be recognized from Pisa-success, overall happyness and standard of living, gross domestic product and various meters of education level of people, equality of society etc.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

A cross-cutting review to Finnish general education system and how the system supports different kind of learners equally. A part of Finland´s Pisa-secret is the support systems which help individuals to achieve their personal maximum from pre-school to general upper secondary education ignoring individuals socio-economical background. The program describes also Finnish society and families every day functions, which draws a background for Finnish education system as a whole. In the course of the visit the principles of inclusion, general support, intensified support, special support, advanced classes, local support methods to learning and student welfare are discussed. The program consists of lectures, discussions and visits to different kinds of education environments where support actions takes place. The visit is closed in a workshop in which the participants reflect what they have seen and experienced and consider if some of the themes could be used as a starting point for the development work in their own education system.

Population ageing is a global phenomenon. People are living longer than before and this demographic fact challenges, among other things, the traditional and costly hospital-centered system in elderly care. For decades Finland has developed innovative and effective solutions aiming to improve quality of life for the elderly and at the same time prevent the costs of health care rising. Clinical Study Visit offers participants a very special opportunity to learn from a variety of best practices of Finnish elderly care.
